Here is are the steps to go through in order to install CentOS under VMWare over the network

  • Obtain the CentOS Network Install ISO
    • http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.1/isos/i386/CentOS-5.1-i386-netinstall.iso
  • Create your new Virtual Machine CentOS-under-VMWare-A-select-guest-os.jpg
  • Load the downloaded CentOS netinstall ISO into the Virtual CDROM Drive CentOS-under-VMWare-B-load-iso.jpg
  • Boot the VM CentOS-under-VMWare-C-bios.jpg
  • Choose a language CentOS-under-VMWare-D-choose-language.jpg
  • Choose a keyboard CentOS-under-VMWare-E-choose-keyboard.jpg
  • Choose “HTTP” for you installation method CentOS-under-VMWare-F-installation-method.jpg
  • Configure your TCP/IP settings CentOS-under-VMWare-G-configure-tcpip.jpg
  • Point to the CentOS repository
    • Web site name : mirror.centos.org
    • CentOS directory : /centos/5.1/os/i386/ CentOS-under-VMWare-H-http-setup.jpg
  • CentOS will begin installing over HTTP CentOS-under-VMWare-I-retrieving-imag.jpg
